SUMMARY:
The Installation Technician works as part of a team to perform quality installations of support columns, runways, and overhead crane bridges. They also work on installing hoists and connecting controls. They will spend most of their time traveling to client sites to install new equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installation of iron or steel columns, beams, and girders to build overhead cranes, plus installation of controls, hoists, and drives.
Responsible for laying out steel per blueprints and ensuring all necessary parts are there to complete the job.
Position, fit, connect, bolt, and/or weld steel and parts to construct a finished crane product.
Inspect and load test overhead industrial cranes and hoists.
Proper use of forklifts, shooting booms, and mobile cranes to move and position parts.
Maintains time tracking per job and reports any product concerns or inconsistencies.
Welding and Electrical experience is required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
CORE SKILLS:
Ability to read and understand work instructions, manuals, and schematics.
Ability to read and execute fabrication drawings.
Ability to manage time to a schedule and be accountable for reporting per job.
Ability to properly maintain and perform basic troubleshooting on equipment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software as necessary to complete logs or records.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum 2 -4 years of work experience as an installation technician.
Mechanical and electrical skills ideally learned from a trade school.
Overhead crane familiarity and exposure to working on cranes and hoists.
MIG and Stick Welding required.
Ability to work overtime.
Demonstrated positive attendance record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Prolonged periods of standing, climbing, and bending.
Must be able to lift and move up to 50+ pounds at a time.
Ability to frequently walk, climb, kneel, bend, reach overhead, push, pull, and use a ladder or stool.
Frequently exposed to heat, cold, noise, and heights.
Ability to work in indoor or outdoor conditions during all seasons.
Must have manual dexterity to assemble products or machines as directed.
Must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
