About the job Shop Manager

The Shop Manager is responsible for the day-to-day activities in the shop. In this leadership position, you will have a passion for working with other employees, customers, vendors, and others in the community. You are responsible for the overall operation of the shop and yard, equipment maintenance and repair, customer load/unload process, and the safety of all shop/yard employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and direct all shop operations and coordinate with the General Manager and Lead Mechanic for daily requirements
  • Monitor equipment performance through daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reports
  • Develop plans to improve shop and equipment performance in coordination with the GM
  • Assist in mediating employee disputes
  • Review shop employee job performance
  • Execute the employee onboarding/training programs
  • Conduct weekly meetings to improve communication and performance in the shop
  • Report any safety incidents and violations to the GM
  • Lead by example in the safe approach to your work
  • Acquire all necessary parts, components and supplies for the proper of the shop
  • Assist the GM in completing semi-annual inventory counts
  • Maintain quality control standards
  • Complete all required documentation and procedures for a high level of customer service.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the facility and grounds
  • Adhere to and enforce the company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in written and verbal form
  • Support and implement government safety requirements
  • Ensure the shop is clean and organized
  • Other duties or tasks as required by management

SKILLS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School degree required, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Mechanical skills, including repair and maintenance of equipment, small engine,s and other equipment
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills
  • Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize efficiently
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Must be able to train and direct the activities of others

Must be able to maintain a high degree of patience and offer constructive criticism when necessary

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Most work will be done indoors in an office or warehouse, and some areas may not be heated or air-conditioned.
  • May have exposure to chemicals, including but not limited to gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, kerosene, and cleaning solvents
