The Director of New Business Development is responsible for taking action to identify prospects whose needs pair well with our product offerings. This involves prospect research, marketing, niche analysis, new market research, new product research, networking, gauging competitive positioning, and forming strategic relationships. Extensive knowledge of our capabilities and process expertise are necessary to understand customer needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage new business development to match inside sales efforts and internal coordination with inside sales, cost estimating, and quality assurance.

Establish and nurture long-term strategic relationships with new customers (Engineering and Purchasing).

Develop and implement marketing and market research programs that lead to incremental top-line sales and new product growth.

Oversee and coordinate the execution of new awards with a hand-off process to internal sales.

Help customers/leads solve their problems. Support and assist customers in finding better solutions and alternatives, focusing on applications utilizing our product niche (stampings).

Cycle planning and budgeting using market forecasting

Responsible for developing and defending the company's market position within the customer base

Prepare technical presentations and reports for customers to communicate the company's products, manufacturing

technology and any other information beneficial to the customer

Participate in industry trade shows and organize roadshows at customer sites.

Conduct line walks to identify ways to solve customer problems and grow the top line.

Manage and improve the company website, focusing on creative ways to market our brand.

REQUIREMENTS

5 -10 years of experience with stampings, metal fasteners, or cold-forged products

Experience with and strong knowledge of Automotive OEMs and Tiers, as well as fastener distributors

BS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), Business Administration, or Sales/Marketing. Master degree a plus and preferred

Proven leadership ability and experience.

Proven experience in marketing and market research.

Strong networking skills. Knows how to locate and connect with decision-makers.

Willingness to travel (up to 75%) domestically, with a high proportion being intra-region.

Motivated and driven individual with team-building experience.

Strong sales skills. A proven hunter who is comfortable in the role every day.

Strong presentation skills with attention to detail

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.

Experience with budgeting and strategic planning processes.

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Technical experience with engineered products in a production environment.

Proven ability in the fastener products industry.

Significant expertise in management planning and goal setting.

Moderate level of ability with databases, spreadsheets, or other analysis tools.

Ability to deal tactfully with human issues in subordinates, peers, and customers.

Ability to create and maintain team-building relationships within the organization.

Demonstrated ability to handle difficult situations tactfully.

Consistently demonstrate the ability to recognize and respond to changing priorities.

Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses in others and shift responsibilities to take advantage of strengths and overcome weaknesses.

Ability to analyze trends and respond to those trends.

The Director of New Business Development has the authority to fulfill the duties and responsibilities outlined above and any other authority that the CEO may grant.

The Director of New Business Development position is a hybrid role. Time will be split between travel, in the office, and work from home. This will be agreed upon with the CEO and may vary based on demand and needs.
